Removable Bollards Mainly for Light Vehicles
Removable bollards are used for the protection of entrance gates, car parks and sporting ground access, roller doors or shop fronts. They are removed from their position for daytime access and when returned to their inground sleeve they lock automatically. They have the capacity to resist up to a force of 3 to 4 tonnes.
The socket where the heavy duty removable bollard locates is embedded in concrete. When the bollard is removed, the socket flap is put into a closed position and can be locked. This keeps the socket clean, so that when the bollard is fixed again the access is clear. There are handles on the bollard, so that removal is easy, comfortable and the change can be done quickly.
Being vehicle barriers is the main function of the removable bollards. There are various styles of removable bollards. The security level of the bollards is determined by the steel pipe which is chosen. Since the bollards are removable there is always a flush mount when they are removed and the ground sleeve is never kept unprotected.
There is a new high security lock system which has been recently developed. The bollard has a unique double slot bottom and a ground sleeve. There is a socket and a hinged cover plate. This is how it functions: the bollard has a fixed spigot which passes through the hinged cover plate. This allows a padlock to secure the bollard in the socket.
But the Standard Padlock Operated Bollard can only allow vehicles to pass when the staff in possession of the appropriate key is available to unlock the bollard. The Heavy Duty Padlock Bollard also requires the key to unlock it. But since the bollard is made of heavier material and the padlock is bigger, it can absorb a higher impact of a moving vehicle. It is installed in places which require security and traffic-control and through which vehicles are passing.
