Flexible Bollards: Economical and Safe for All

The flexible bollards are designed as traffic deterrents which can withstand minor collisions. The bollards are flexible almost up to 90 degrees.  They work with a patented elastic anchored mechanism because of which the protection shaft can move in its maximum inclination.  This movement occurs when a pressure or impact of about 60 kgs hits it. But after that it returns back to its original position.

That is how minor impacts are absorbed by Flexible Bollards.  And during the process no paving is torn up.  The material used for the top finishing, base and mechanism box of the bollard is cast iron and the material for the vertical shaft is galvanized and painted steel.

The base of the bollard is poly flex, a form of polyethylene 80 UV, which is very flexible but a very hard wearing product as well.  The base can be bolted on to any concrete surface and the poly flex bases are installed with the vertical rib facing the traffic.

The new flexible bollards show minimum residual deformation and creasing no matter which way the impact arises.  The new shape has a light at the base and because of its shape the illumination in the upper portion of the bollard has a good effect.

Flexible bollards are often used in government, commercial and healthcare settings.  Often the police have to cordon off an area or not permit too many vehicles to come too close to a certain public building, and these flexible bollards can be placed conveniently. As soon as it is necessary the bollards can be removed to make way for vehicular traffic again.

There are flexible knock down bollards as well.  These will not break or split when driven over and they rebound after being hit, springing back to their upright position, because they are made of flexible plastic.  If the bollard comes in two pieces, it has a rubber base.  The bollards can be easily removed from its base and can be easily installed elsewhere.

Installation of Flexible Bollards is easy, and can be done any time during or after the construction.  It is also cost effective to install such bollards. Some flexible bollards are just spring-loaded posts which are designed to protect building corners.  If vehicles accidentally strike them there is minimum impact damage.  The material is highly visible and reflective and these bollards are economical and quick to install.

All illuminated traffic island bollards belong to the Flexible Bollards category.  Some of them are made of highly flexible plastic and are used on major roads and dual carriageways.  Their design is simple and plain and the markings on them are yellow or some high profile indication markings, as required by choice.

Such traffic island bollards may come with a different design, like a rounded top.  For some the design is interchangeable and can be fitted to baselight units or to some other third party units as well.

Hence the basic design of the flexible bollards enables them to return to their original position after they have been bent down without being damaged.  If the impact is low speed, there is no damage to the bollard at all, and so replacement costs are avoided.  Flexible bollards are extremely robust, durable and maintenance free. On the whole they have no sharp edges, and this makes them safe for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
